Mozella Decuir - Thousand Empty Light Play Report 2
This is my second play report for Thousand Empty Light, a solo adventure for Mothership. Mozella made it further than my last character. Had a great time. Review and thoughts on solo Motherhsip coming soon.

0600 I've got a bad feeling about this place already. Dropped off onto the platform and its riddled with holes big enough to fall through. They weren't kidding about the corrosion. It'll be difficult to get to the pressure chamber.
0617 Rough going, but I jumped the holes and made it to the chamber. Glad I haven't lost everything from my time in track at the academy.
0626 Got the exterior generator going. Feeling a bit dizzy. Not sure if it's engine fumes or something else. Taking a bit of fresh air before heading down.
0635 Whoever was here last spilled gas all over the platform. Idiots. Probably explains the dizziness. Heading down now.
0657 Who am I? I'm me, but something doesn't feel right after pressurization. Can't explain it. But some part of me was replaced in there. I don't like how much I feel like I'm being managed here, even while I'm alone. That's why I came out here, to get away from bosses looking over my shoulder. Can't go back now though.
0708 Typical. Storage is empty except for a note complaining about the lack of protective gear we were promised. I get it. But, who brings pen and paper down here? I don't see any around. Why'd they waste space with that?
0720 whole place shook trying to get into the decontamination corridor. Earthquake or something. Knocked my head on a pipe, but I'll be fine. Heading into Section 1 now.
0732 Ouch. Stumbled into a cubicle and one of the computers was rigged to explode. Blew me back into the wall and knocked me cold for a minute. Going to slow down and find a safer way through the forest of cloth down the middle.
0745 Flooded down the middle of this room. Splashed some on my pants and it burned through to the skin. Going to try to find that elevated path over the cubes.
0826 Just got lost in the cubes, couldn't find the scaffolding. Might not be there anymore. Scored some files left out on a desk though. Some kind of trade secrets in there if it's decrypted probably. I bet it’s worth a lot more than they’re paying me for this. Gonna go stash it back in the storage for later.
0840 Found the leak that’s flooding the floor in here. Pretty small. I think I can jury-rig a patch.
0845 Good new is the hole is patched. Bad news is I got water all over myself in the process and got burned a bit more. Had to strip. I’ll see if there’s other clothes in the lockers. Good thing nobody else is here to see this.
0900 No proper clothes, but there was a hi-vis rain suit in the bottom of one of the lockers. Not the most comfortable thing, but this’ll probably help with the water going forward. Hung my clothes up to try and stashed the files in a locker. Heading back out there.
0907 Had to pause in decontamination. I think the depth is getting to me. Don’t feel right. Not sure I can do this. But I can’t not do this. Have to push forward. But I’m stowing my weapons here. I don’t feel comfortable bringing them with me now.
0911 Back in Section 1. I just want to push through now and get this done with. I need the lights on in this section at least.
0923 Tried to skirt around the cubes this time along the north and ran straight into four of something alien sleeping in a nest of wiring and paper blocking the path.
Combat 30 (2d10) Instinct 30 Health 3(5)
They're a mess of serrated tentacles, I can barely tell where one starts and the other stops the way they’re entwined in their nest. I’m terrified of going forward, but who knows what else is around if I try to go back. I’m going to move very slowly and try to get around them.
0942 Made it out barely. I tripped on the wiring and woke them up. Worked up the courage to fight and kicked back as they reached out at me with those tentacles. Not sure I did much. Gave me an opening but I wasn’t fast enough, and they grabbed me and pulled me back. Cut my leg bad, gushing blood. One more good kick got me away from there at least. I’m close to the generator, but I’ve got to take care of this bleeding first.
0955 I don’t remember as much of my first aid as I thought. I made things worse with this wound. But I’ve to to try again. Maybe there’s better supplies around if I can’t manage it.
1011 Can’t find anything, but something’s clumping over the wound. I didn’t notice it at first, but it’s almost got the thing covered. Bleeding seems to be slowing down. I think it might be that beamish dust the manual talks about. They don’t say if there’s a problem from the growths from these things, but I’m willing to take the risk right now if it keeps me alive.
1045 This generator is taking forever to start up. Can’t find anything in particular that’s wrong, but it doesn’t want to go properly.
1100 Good news is, the power is on. Bad news is the hull breached spectacularly. Couldn’t grab onto anything quickly enough and got knocked back into the kitchen. It’ll take time, but this whole section might flood. I can’t imagine the performance review if I were to leave this section to flood and carry on like nothing’s wrong. I need to patch this up.
1122 Can’t find anything to patch, but something is moving around this area. Oh. It’s that machine, Saw Spot, I read about that guy. Guess powering this section got him going. I know I can’t get close, but maybe I can get it to go do something about that hole. Does it talk to the computers? Can’t hurt to check I guess.
1126 Dammit. Computers don’t have anything for talking to that thing. I’ll see if I can get close enough to work on it manually.
1134 I could feel the charge trying to push me back, but I pushed harder and I’m on it. Looking for some way to control this thing. If I can get enough chewed up material by the hole I think we can stop this place from flooding. For now, it’s big enough the water is mostly flowing west, not getting higher yet.
1147 Ok, I got it going toward the leak, that was great, until it stopped abruptly and my arm got stuck in some gears. It’s slow, very slow now, but I can feel it crushing down on my forearm. Trying to get it out before this gets worse.
1156 That was close, but I got it out with a few scratches. Saw Spot seems to be doing something that’s slowing the water flow. I assume it and the computers can figure out the rest. My work is done here. On to the next section.
1203 In Section 2 and I’m done messing around. I just want to get this done with. Straight though, as quickly as possible.
1300 Moving much slower than I want to through this maze of fungus beds, but it has to be better than the water down there. I’ve had more than enough water since I got here. Didn’t run into anything living up here, just dark and twisting and took me almost an hour to reach the midpoint.
1328 Something has to be alive downstairs, or maybe that rogue AI the manual talks about is doing something. Whatever it is, a laser beam from downstairs just shot up through the floor and lit a fungus bed on fire. The rebreather is helping with the smoke, but I’m having an even worse time finding my way forward in this mess now.
1417 I made it and got the power on in here. Ventilator system kicked on and is clearing the smoke out. Fungus honestly doesn’t look so bad in the light now. This’ll be easier to get through on the way back out. Downstairs with all that water looks just as bad in the light though.
1421 Thought I could just wait 10 minutes and move on, but no, whole place shook again and the platform outside the control booth shook loose. Almost caught myself, but tumbled down into the water instead. Rain gear blocked most of it, but some got up under the coat and burned my stomach.
1434 Made it into Section 3, but I’m feeling dizzy now. I think the pressure is really getting to me down here. Gotta keep going.
1456 I was feeling good. So good. No sign of the raiders the others mentioned. Not even any remnants of their killing. It was nice, if suspicious, I mean, who cleaned up in here? But it couldn’t last. Something massive burst through the floor. Massive teeth. Huge head. Long body. Has to be that Gleylurk thing. It got me good as I was trying to run, blood splattered up into my eyes. That beamish stuff clotted over the wound again quickly, but wow does it hurt. The thing isn’t agile at least, seems to have gotten itself stuck in the hole it made, so no more water is coming in yet. And I made it up to get the power on in here.
1508 Poked around the command both while I was waiting and stumbled onto a raider sleeping in a corner. I’m recording it, but I can’t deal with that right now. Just backed out carefully and quietly. Moving on to the next section.
1515 I’m feeling good. Better than I have all day. I’ve got this.
1524 Something odd going on in the treatment area of Section 4. There’s a bunch of people in there. It’s like a full on hospital. I didn’t look long, but it seems like the raiders with their weird growths like the others talked about. Don’t know how they got in here, but they seem to be working on whatever’s wrong with them. Based on what I’ve got growing on my own chest it’s got to be that beamish stuff. I’m just going to leave them alone and keep moving.
1542 Nothing in the moonpool, but wow is it cold in here. Must be the water. Just cold and wet. Honestly thought I might get frostbite moving around that pool, but I kept rubbing my hands together and moving and made it around. Other side is warmer again.
1559 There’s supposed to be emergency supplies here. I thought I could find something to help warm up. But I didn’t. Found an intercom though. I tried talking for the hell of it, and someone talked back. Must be Ari right? The AI? I don’t know. It kept going on about how I could make it stop. Just go in the water. The cold, cold water. Everything is calm down there. I don’t know what I’m doing. It’s like I can’t stop my feet from moving that way. What’s happening? Must have gone out over the system PA. Everyone from the medbay is coming down too. Just jumping into the water like its the end of a church revival or something. Going down to the river to pray. I hated baptism the first time and I don’t think I’ll like it this time either.
1617 Cold must have snapped me out it. I got halfway in before I could control my legs again. I thought about trying to save those poor suckers jumping in, but I’ve got to look out for myself right now. I can’t stay close to the water. Turning the power on now. Just one more section to go.
1641 Body just shut down I guess. Thought I was gonna catch my breath for 10 minutes and woke up 24 minutes later. Feeling better than before at least. Must have needed the rest.
1642 Woke up just in time I guess. Another breach in the hull in this chamber, water pouring in now. No place to go but onward. I don’t think I’m going to be able to back through this section.
1650 Section 5 isn’t flooded anymore, but what the hell is this? Giant, slimy, green ball? What are they doing with this thing? There’s not even anyhwere to go. No way up. No way back through that flooded chamber. Starting to feel sick. I think this thing is putting out a gas or something. What a waste. Nobody to even read that letter I did. I doubt Hazmos will even remember I was here.
1707 Just falling asleep now. Slowly. Wouldn’t be bad if I wasn’t nauseous too. I’m putting all of this in the memocom. Don’t forget me.
